As you may have heard, Asus officially unveiled the shiny new Eee PC S101 yesterday. Early reviews of the $699 laptop have been mixed. And a lot of other netbooks for that matter. Here’s a roundup of recent headlines related to Asus and the Eee PC line of netbooks:
- Asus expects to ship 12 million notebooks next year, up from 11 million this year, with netbooks fueling the growth. CEO Jerry Shen says the company expects that figure to include as many as 50,000 Eee PC S101 units.
- Eee PC helps boost Asus revenue – Jerry Shen says Asus expects revenue to hit $834 million in september, which represents a 26% jump for the company.
- The Guardian has coverage of the Eee PC S101 launch event in Taipei, complete with a bunch of pictures.
- Asus begins bundling a 30GB USB hard drive, or “Eee Drive” with netbooks in South Korea. (English translation)
