File this under the category of “sure, I knew this could be done, but it’s cool to see it in action.” Xavier from Notebooks.com was in Italy recently and he happened across a little outdoor dance party. And the music was being supplied by a local bar owner and his trusty Asus Eee PC 900.

The Eee PC 900, like most netbooks, may have rather tinny and underpowered speakers. But plug in a good set of speakers, or even a PA system and no one will know the difference between a netbook and a full sized computer.

Of course, you could say the same thing about an iPod, but here’s the neat part. The bar owner had tethered the Eee PC 900 to a 3G phone so that he could not only play music stored on the computer but also download tracks from the internet and play any requests fromt he dance “floor.”

What odd or unexpected places have you seen a netbook show up in? Coffee shops or your home office don’t count.

  1. A friend of mine uses his Eee 701 to trouble-shoot the systems in his porn stores. I am sure if Asus asked he would be glad to write an testamonial. 😉
