As reported yesterday, customers who have placed orders for Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbooks are starting to get visits from the technology stork. But not only is Dell making good on its promise to deliver products that were ordered a few weeks ago (unlike some other computer companies I could name *cough* *Lenovo* *cough*), Dell is even offering super-fast delivery on products ordered this week.
Liliputing reader Dave Marples tells me he placed an order for an Inspiron Mini yesterday morning at about 10am. It was delivered today.
Many potential customers were disgruntled when Dell failed to release the Mini in time for the back to school rush in August. But it looks like Dell’s decision to wait is paying off big time. The company isn’t suffering from the same kind of shortages and delays that have plagued other computer makers. At least not yet.
Dude I ordered my Dell yesterday … it’s still “In Production”.
🙁
And you wonder why lenovo wasn’t interested in buying any of Dell’s factories? They couldn’t deal with efficient manufacturing facilities!!!
I ordered mine the day it came out. As a matter of fact, I ordered it withing minutes of it coming out. Mine isn’t scheduled to even ship until the 19th of this month! What is up with that? Then to find out that they are shipping other peoples the same day upsets me to say the least!
I also ordered one the day it was announced. Still getting the “In Production” message with a scheduled delivery date of the 19th. Disappointed to hear that it could have been received sooner had I waited. Very strange.
I wonder if people with certain configurations are receiving it faster than others?
I know the Windows XP model is supposed to ship sooner than the Linux
version. Have y’all ordered the Windows or Linux models?
I got a black 16gb, with bluetooth, 1.3 cam and XP yesterday – shipping on 9/26.
Windows XP, 16 GB, 1.3 webcam, no bluetooth, black – shipping on 9/19. Could be based on the configuration.
Could be their shipping the middle version which has XP. The one with 8GB SSD. And maybe they haven’t received the high end one yet.
I won’t buy from Lenovo, never.
Never seen this horrible horrible customer service before.
I canceled S10 order. They never contact me or send email about how the request went. When I logged in Lenovo website to find out, the whole order just disappeared.
Sounds like the two folks above ordered the 16GB model, so maybe those are shipping out first (although dell being a made to order operation, it shouldn’t really matter). Shipping distance and method are other factors to consider. Mine is scheduled to ship on 9/23, so I won’t be upset unless they miss that deadline. Anything earlier earns them some brownie points.
