The Advent 4211 netbook was basically a rebranded version of the MSI Wind. It’s successor, the Advent 4213 is something else. Blogeee suggests it’s a rebranded ECS G10IL, but it doesn’t really look like one to me. The status LEDs and ports are in different locations. I’m going to go with PC Pro’s suggestion, which is that the 4213 is an upgraded version of the 4211 with many of the same parts, but a new case and a few new goodies on the inside.

For example, it has a 160GB hard drive, which is twice the storage you’ll find on the Advent 4211. And the 4213 includes an HSDPA module for accessing wireless broadband networks. For the most part, the new computer’s specs look a lot like the older model: 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1GB RAM, and a 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display in a 1.4kg (3.1 pound) package).

UK retailer PC World is selling the Advent 4211 4213 for £350, or about $620 US.

Update: Pierre from Blogeee has convinced me. It’s a rebranded ECS G10IL. The ports do seem to line up. And while I can’t see the LEDs on the pictures of the trackpad, that’s probably just because they’re not lit up in the publicity photos.

  1. I  also  bought  the  advent  but  I don’t know why  the  bluetooth  on  it  is  not  working so  i’ll  like to  give  my  email  account  show  me  the steps  involve  in  doing  that

  2. I bought an Advent 4213 today and upon purchase, I asked what it was based on and the member of staff told me that it was made by MSI for them and was based on the Wind.

The first one I bought was DOA so I took it back, I spoke to another member of staff and asked them the same question – just to see if their response was the same – and it was, they also said it was made by MSI for the Dixon Stores Group and was based on the Wind.

    Hope this helps.

    Lewis.

  3. According to MSIwind forums, its a 6 cell 3600mAh.

    Makes it interesting!

  4. Any guesses for battery life?

Probably just a three cell, so not enough for me.

That’s the 4213. The 4211 is still selling at its launch price of £280.

    1. I agree, it does look very similar to the production G10IL. Additionally, PC World is advertising it as a “netbook with embedded sim card slot for mobile broadband”, which is pretty much a dead giveaway since there aren’t many other netbooks around with that feature.
