Tired of waiting to get your hands on an MSI Wind laptop with a 6-cell battery? Don’t feel like paying $50 extra for the higher capacity battery? Looks like you can build your own. It won’t be pretty, but it’s certainly possible, as one member of the MSI Wind.net forums has shown.
The concept is pretty simple. You get your hands on a few of the 3.7v, 2200mAh cells used in the MSI Wind batteries (Wind Master at the MSI Wind.net forums is selling them, 8 for £15), cut open your battery pack (this is the scary part), and cram the extra batteris in. The result? A laptop that weighs a little more, has an unsightly bottom, and runs for 8 hours or more on a single charge.

It charges fine without issue. Been using it for a good few weeks now and its awesome. I’ve rebuilt a few battery packs over the past few months, so the initial fear of working with Li-On is gone.
I’ll be flying in a few months with it, only difference is, it will have an OEM finish case 😀 If I get arrested I’ll be sure to post about it :p
cool man! i love it when techies like you forge ahead with technology we need but companies are behind in putting out… You wouldn’t happen to have the plans around for a fold up computer would you?
I could see using some of that extra-large heatshrink tubing to bind the batteries together and make it look less improvised/crackpot/dangerous.
That will DEFINITELY get confiscated by the TSA! They confiscated a guys’ homebrew battery pack for his portable DVD player because *somebody* might *think* it was an explosive device.
yea, it does look a little like a bomb. As unsightly as it is though, it’s good to see some mods.
