MSI says the Windows XP version of the company’s Wind laptop will be available in the US on June 16th for $499. And while UK retailer Expansys has a web page for the Wind for over a month, the computer is just now starting to show up at US web stores. MWAVE has the MSI Wind laptop listed for $499.99. It won’t be available until June 23rd, and that’s listed as an estimated ship date. But it still beats Expansys, who says the computer will be available on July 22nd.

But if you were hoping to place a preorder in hopes of getting your computer as soon as humany possibly, you might have to wait a little longer. MWAVE isn’t accepting preorders.

thanks FDAMAN!

  1. We saw your comments and looked into the specs. We do apologize, it looks like we grabbed the Linux specs by mistake. It does have bluetooth, 56k modem, and 6 cell battery and we updated our info accordingly. Thanks guys!! Mwave.com

    1. Amazon has the 3 Cell XP version now listed with an email notification – no price is mentioned, but you should avoid that version…I’m sticking to MWAVE…

  2. Looks like this is the real thing except it is advertised with a 3 cell battery. One of the things you have to watch out for is getting the battery life you need with these things. The specs I’ve seen have the XP model with a 6 cell battery. Maybe they offer the larger capacity battery but at a higher price.

  3. They mention in the Mwave specs a 56K modem. That’s the first I’ve heard of that. I doesn’t show in the pictures. Mistake?
