Italian site PC Professionale.it managed to get their hands on an Acer Aspire One, and decided to take a peek below the hood. While the video is in Italian, it does provide a good look at the underside and insides of the unit.
French site Blogeee (yes, it’s international day here at Liliputing) points out a few highlights from the image above. For example, the 802.11b/g card is removable, which should make it easy for Acer (and possibly for you) to replace the WiFi card with 802.11n components. There appears to be a SIM chip reader.
It looks like the 512MB of RAM is stuck to the motherboard, and yes, the 8GB of solid state memory is also soldered to the motherboard, which makes it difficult if not impossible to remove. So while you can certainly upgrade the computer’s storage capacity, you’ll have to do it by adding flash memory or a hard disk, not by replacing the existing storage.
