There’s no question that the Asus Eee PC and the upcoming MSI Wind feature a superficial resemblance. They’re both small, white laptops. But it turns out that’s not the only thing they have in common. Both computers seem to make the same boy very very happy.
If you look closely, you’ll see they didn’t just change the logo. The ports on the side of the laptops are different as well, so they really did swap out one PC for another. But all of the other elements of the photo are identical, which makes me wonder… did this kid even have a computer in front of him at all when the original picture was snapped?
Update: Sascha from Eee PC News found what appears to be the original image. And it shows the same kid with a Macbook, which makes sense because if you look at the larger versions of this picture, it looks like all the other kids in the classroom are using Macbooks.
Pictures with Asus and MSI have been photoshopped. The picture is slightly blurry on the boy’s elbow (see Asus). With MSI, it looks like his hands is floating. His elbow should be resting on the laptop but it’s not. Looks like the company is doing some illegal stuff here.
You can still see the ghostly shadow of the Macbook in the MSI image!
I’m guessing, by his orange cap, that his name is Kenny and he lives in the poor section of town. Whereas everyone else can afford MacBooks, all his family can afford is an Asus or MSI.
