It looks like we have our first Eee PC 900 unboxing to report! The folks at XEPC.org somehow managed to get their hands on the new model, and they’ve posted a slew of pictures of the Eee PC 900 in and out of its box.
As expected, the new computer looks almost exactly the same as the Eee PC 700 series. But it has a larger screen, which means the speakers have been moved to the bottom of the unit. XEPC.org also confirms the basic specs:
- 1024 x 600 screen
- 1GB RAM
- 12GB SSD
- 1.3 MP webcam
- Larger touchpad
- larger 12v power brick for faster charging
One thing to note is that this unit does seem to have the RAM access panel on the back which is missing in some models. That means you should be able to upgrade the 1GB of RAM to at least 2GB just by unscrewing the panel, popping out the RAM and replacing it with a new stick.
We also know now that it comes with an “Intel Mobile” CPU, but no word on whether this is the same 900MHz Celeron processor we’ve come to know and overclock, or another chip. Also no word on how exactly XEPC got their hands on this unit, but the site confirms that it should be hitting the streets in mid-April.
