Portable computer maker Viliv may be on its last legs

Viliv X70

Korean device maker Viliv isn’t exactly a household name in the West. But over the past few years the company has produced some of the most interesting portable computing devices around. That includes the 5 inch Viliv N5 Windows computer with a QWERTY keyboard and the Viliv S10 Blade convertible Windows tablet. Now it looks like the company could be getting…

Up close with the new Viliv X7 Android, X70 Windows slates

I got a chance to heck out some of the new tablets Viliv introduced last week at CES. The X70 is Windows 7 Slate is an update model of the current X70, with fewer buttons and a shiny new Intel Atom Oak Trail processor (which means it won’t be available for purchase for a little while), while the Viliv X7…

Viliv is introduces three new tablets: two Android models and one slate computer running Windows 7. The Android tablets come in 7 and 10 inch sizes, and are labeled the Viliv Android Tablet X7 and X10, respectively. New Android, Windows tablets from Viliv to be on display at CES

It’s a given that the closer we get to CES, the more “product X to be shown” news we’re going to hear about before we actually see it. Viliv is getting in on the pre-newsing, announcing that they will be showing off two new Android tablets (the X7 and X10), and a new Windows 7 tablet (the X70). The Android…

Viliv N5 handheld computer reviews

The Viliv N5 looks like the love child of a netbook and a smarpthone. Or rather, it looks like a netbook that’s abotu the size of a smartphone. It has a QWERTY keybaord, an Intel Atom processor, and runs Windows 7. But it has a 4.8 inch display and can almost fold up and fit in your pocket. Dynamism is…

Viliv N5 handheld mini-notebook now shipping in the US

The Viliv N5 is kind of what you’d get if you crossed an Intel Atom powered netbook with… something smaller. Basically, this little guy has all the specs of a relatively mundane 10 inch netbook, but packed into a device with a 4.8 inch display that’s small enough to fold up and put in your coat pocket. It’s now available…

Later today Dynamism will start taking pre-orders for the Viliv N5 mobile internet soon, with the MID expected to ship starting July 19th. UMPC Portal reports that customers who order between July 6th and 15th will get a spare battery for free, which is worth about $50. The Viliv N5 looks like a netbook’s kid brother. It has a QWERTY…

Viliv X10 Android tablet with HD display

Viliv is launching a new 10 inch Android tablet that bucks the 1024 x 600 pixel trend with a high definition 1366 x 768 pixel capacitive touchscreen. That makes a lot of sense, and I’m surprised Viliv is the first company to do it. I’m not really a huge fan of 10 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel displays on Windows…

Viliv S10 Blade convertible tablet launch pushed back

Apple isn’t the only company pushing back tablet launch dates. Engadget is reporting that the Viliv S10 Blade won’t ship in the US until late April or early to mid-May. Retailer Dynamism had expected to begin shipping the convertible tablet/netbook on April 22nd, but apparently there’s been a delay at the factory. The Viliv S10 Blade can be used either…

Viliv S10 Blade convertible tablet style netbook reviewed… twice

The Viliv S10 Blade combines some of the best features of a netbook and a tablet PC. It’s small, light, and has a multitouch display. But it also has a nearly full sized keyboard making text entry much easier on the S10 Blade than on a touchscreen-only tablet like the upcoming iPad. Two of my colleagues have posted detailed reviews…

Best Buy to sell Viliv tablets, netbooks

Korean PC maker Viliv has a pretty wide range of portable computers including touchscreen tablets and convertible netbooks with touchscreens and full QWERTY keyboards. A tale of three tablets: Lenovo, Gigabyte, and Viliv’s convertible netbooks

While there’s a lot of buzz around the upcoming iPad and dozens of other internet slates, tablet PCs have been around for nearly a decade. The difference is that most Windows-based tablets available today feature full sized keyboards and swivels that let you fold the touchscreen down over the keyboard for use in tablet mode. The iPad is a touchscreen-only…
