Toshiba unveils 10 inch Dynabook UX netbook

dynabook-ux

Toshiba is launching its second foray into the netbook space, this time with a mini-laptop sporting a 10.1 inch display. The company’s Satellite NB100 series of netbooks, which was never released in the US, had smaller 8.9 inch displays and rather cramped keyboards. But the new Toshiba Dynabook UX series has a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a…

Toshiba to launch a netbook in the US this year

Toshiba has been selling a netbook with an 8.9 inch display in Europe and Latin America for a few months. But while the company showed of that model (the Toshiba Satellite NB105) at CES in Las Vegas this year, Toshiba has been pretty quiet about any plans to launch a netbook in the US. But now ChannelWeb is reporting that…

Toshiba still hasn’t released a mini-laptop in the US, but the company is reportedly planning to ship an updated version of the Toshiba NB100 with HSPA connectivity in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The laptops should be available within the next few months. The HSPA modems will support download speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps and upload speeds of…

A good sign Toshiba is not releasing a netbook in the US soon

Toshiba NB105 in Spanish

Yesterday CNet reported that Toshiba hasn’t yet decided whether to release its NB100/NB105 netbook in the US. The mini-laptop is currently available in Europe and Latin America, but not in the US.  So I decided to stop by the Toshiba booth and see what I could see. And you know what? The Toshiba netbooks on display at CES are all…

Toshiba doesn’t know if it will bring netbook to the US

I haven’t had a chance to visit the Toshiba booth at CES  yet, but the folks at CNet have already asked the biggest question that’s on my mind: Does the company plan to release its Toshiba NB100 netbook in the US? The answer, for now, is a big old maybe. The Toshiba NB100 is already available in Europe and Mexico….

Toshiba NB100 reviewed: Pretty much what you’d expect

Almost every major netbook that’s been announced over the last few months has sported the same specs: 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 9 or 10 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, and maybe a high capacity hard drive or relatively small solid state disk. So there’s not a ton of reason to expect much variety in terms of basic performance. Instead,…

Toshiba NB100 hits the UK

The Toshiba NB100 is about to go on sale in the UK, and two British tech blogs have had a chance to spend some time with the first netbook from Toshiba. TechRadar says the laptop has a good screen, handles Ubuntu 8.04 (with Ubuntu Netbook Remix), well and comes with 80GB to 120GB of storage space. The NB100 has just…

While I was busy messing with my server yesterday, those crazy kids at Engadget were busy posting updates about netbook related news. So here’s Engadget’s netbook news from October 15th in 60 seconds or less: HP bullies OEMs into help its netbook…

Toshiba netbook gets official(er)

Toshiba’s Mexico division may have spilled the beans on the company’s upcoming netbook a few days ago. But now Toshiba’s really getting ready to talk netbooks. In the UK anyway. British news sites Stuff and iTWire are both running articles previewing the new Toshiba Satellite NB100. It’s not entirely clear if the NB105 name we heard earlier was wrong or…
