HP seeks trademarks on three more tablet-related names

Last year HP applied for a trademark on the term “PalmPad” and the world groaned a little bit at the thought that this was what the company would call its upcoming webOS tablet. Last week it started to look like HP hadn’t settled on a name, thanks to a trademark application for “HP TouchPad.” Now it looks like that was…

Fox News: HP/Palm’s new PalmPad headed for CES, looks exactly like the Slate

According to Fox News, HP/Palm will be showing off three new tablet devices at CES in January. Fox states that the PalmPads will run webOS 2.5.1, and sport similar hardware to the iPad. The device will feature USB 3.0, possible multi-format card reader and a mini-HDMI port, as well front and rear-facing cameras (at 1.3 and 3 megapixels) — and…

Despite early evidence that Research in Motion’s upcoming tablet would bear the awkward moniker of “BlackPad,” this week the company announced a device with a slightly better name: BlackBerry PlayBook. I’m still not sure why you’d use the word play when describing a device that you want to promote as a tablet professionals can use to get work done, but…

HP’s upcoming tablet may recognize pen, fingertip input

The Apple iPad with its capacitive, finger-friendly touchscreen display may be the most successful consumer oriented tablet computer to date. But long-time tablet enthusiasts have one major complaint: You can’t use a digital pen or stylus with it. And that makes writing or drawing on the screen more difficult than it would be with a sharp-tipped pointing device. A number…

HP files for a trademark on the term “PalmPad”

HP is working on a tablet. We know that. It will probably use a version of the Palm WebOS operating system. We’re pretty sure we know that too. What we don’t know is what HP will call the thing… although a recent FCC filing may shed some light on the matter. MyHPMini notes that HP has filed for a US…
