Toshiba NB305 netbook to get Intel Atom N455 CPU

We’ve been hearing rumors about a tiny little shakeup on the horizon for Intel’s Atom line of chips. Basically, the Atom N450 and N470 processors that power netbooks today will be phased out and replaced with Atom N455 and N475 chips that are virtually identical, but which add support for DDR3 memory. Now it looks like Toshiba has inadvertently confirmed…

Intel Atom N450, N470 processors benchmarked

Two processors walk into a series of benchmarks… and it turns out it’s a bit tricky to tell which is which. Peter at Netbooked recently managed to get his hands on a Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3s with a shiny new 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 processor and an S10-3 with the much more common 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU. And he put…

HP Mini 5102 now available with 1.83GHz CPU

As expected, HP is now offering customers the option of configuring the HP Mini 5102 business netbook with a 1.83GHz Intel Atom processor. The processor upgrade is only $25, but there’s a slight catch — it’s not available on any of HP’s “Smart Buy” configurations. And that means you’ll end up paying at least $543 to purchase the HP Mini…

HP netbooks to get Atom N470 spec bump

HP is one of the first netbook makers promising to deliver netbooks with Intel’s recently unveiled (although long suspected) Atom N470 processor. The new CPU clocks in at 1.83GHz, which is a little faster than the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 found in most of the netbooks released over the past few months. Register Hardware reports that the HP Mini 5102…

Intel launches 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 CPU

As expected, Intel has officially introduced a slightly faster version of its Intel Atom Pine Trail chipset. While the Atom N450 clocks in at 1.66GHz, the new Atom N470 processor has a clock speed of .83GHz. It has 512k of L2 cache and supports DDR2 667 memory. Like the Atom N450, the new platform combines graphics and memory functions onto…

Reports: Intel to launch 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 chip Monday

Word on the street is that Intel will officially introduce the Atom N470 Pine Trail chip on Monday. And when I say Street, I mean that’s what CNET and PC World are reporting, stealing a little bit of Intel’s thunder. Of course, there wasn’t much thunder left in the bag after Lenovo, Gigabyte, and other PC makers started showing off…

Gigabyte T1000 convertible netbook with Pine Trail CPU coming soon

Taiwanese PC maker Gigabyte briefly added a product page to its web site for a new convertible tablet-stylenetbook called the T1000 today. And then it removed the page. Fortunately, you can still see Google’s cached version of the page. The Gigabyte T1000 looks like an upgraded version of the Gigabyte T1028X TouchNote. Like the TouchNote it has a 10.1 inch,…

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t now shipping with Atom N470 CPU

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t

Well, that was quick. A few days after I speculated that the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t could be the first netbook to ship with a 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 processor, Lenovo has started taking orders for the N470-equipped model of the tablet-style netbook. This version will set you back $649, but you get more than just a faster processor. You also…

1.83GHz version of the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3t coming soon?

Intel hasn’t officially launched the 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 Pine Trail chip yet. All of the new Pine Trail netbooks launched over the past few weeks have been outfitted with 1.66GHz Atom N450 processors instead. But I’ve seen a number of product listings and spec sheets that mention the faster chip. And now a little sleuthing has led me to…

Intel officially launches next-gen Atom Pine Trail chips – Video

If you couldn’t tell by the introduction of the new Dell Inspiron Mini 10 and Asus Eee PC 1005P, Intel has officially pulled the veil back on its next-generation Atom processors. The new 1.66GHz Atom N450 and 1.83GHz N470 chips are destined for upcoming netbooks, while the D410 single core and D510 1.66GHz processors will grace nettops, all-in-one PCs, and…

Intel Atom rumors: N470 coming soon, DDR3 support on its way

Intel is set to launch its new Pine Trail Atom platform in January, and we expect to see dozens of mini-laptop and desktop computers toting Intel Atom N450, D410, and D510 processors. But according to Fudzilla, there are more next-gen Atom processors on the way. For instance, there’s the upcoming Intel Atom N470, which Fudzilla says should launch in the…

Rumor: Intel to allow Atom-powered netbooks with 2GB of RAM

hp 5101 ram

Virtually every netbook released over the last year and a half has had the same specs: 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive. But the times, they are a-changing. With the launch of Windows 7, we’ve started seeing machines with 250GB hard drives. And now it looks like Intel could be ready to shake things up a…
