You lose some, you sue some: Apple lawsuits in Germany, Australia

iPad 3g

In today’s edition of the worldwide courtroom drama that is Apple versus everybody, the iPhone and iPad maker is going on the offensive in Australia — while suffering a pretty serious setback in Germany. Motorola had sued Apple in Germany for infringement of a patent related to email account synchronization. A judge has ruled in Motorola’s favor for the second time…

Judge: Samsung gets to keep selling Galaxy Tab 10.1n in Germany… for now

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1n

Samsung recently introduced the Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany. It’s a slightly modified version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with a plastic bezel which extends over the sides of the tablet to make it look a little less like an Apple iPad 2. The new design came after a German court decided that Samsung’s original 10 inch tablet did look too…

Apple wants to ban the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany too

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N

It’s the same old story. Boy meets girl. Boy sues girl for producing a tablet that looks too much like boy’s tablet. Girl introduces a new tablet with a slightly different design. Boy sues again in hopes of prohibiting girl from selling that tablet in Germany either. Oh wait, that’s not the plot of a romantic comedy. It’s a slightly anthropomorphic retelling of…

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N hits Germany, attempts to steer clear of Apple complaints

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N

If you think the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet looks an awful lot like an Apple iPad, you’re not alone. A German court has prohibited Samsung from selling in the tablet in Germany after ruling that Samsung has infringed on Apple’s designs. The victory was a bit hollow, since it only affected Samsung’s German division… and didn’t prohibit retailers from…

Toshiba’s new 10 inch Android tablet is apparently coming in January. The company had initially promised that the Toshiba AT200 would launch in some regions by the end of 2011, but according to a post on the Toshiba Germany Facebook page, the date has been moved back by a month or so. Apple’s hollow victory? Samsung Galaxy Tab still on sale in Germany

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Apple’s legal battle against Samsung in Germany has grabbed a number of headlines lately. But while Apple has won several of the preliminary rounds to ban sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in that country, it turns out Apple’s victories may be virtually meaningless at this point. You can still buy Samsung tablets in Germany, and it looks like…

Update: Samsung still can’t sell tablets in Germany

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

A German court has upheld the preliminary injunction prohibiting Samsung from selling the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Germany. Apple won the injunction against Samsung last month as part of a lawsuit that claims the Tab 10.1 is designed to be little more than an iPad clone. Samsung disagrees, and the courts haven’t actually ruled on the larger issue yet…
