WoodWind mod turns MSI Wind into.. something else

I’ve never been a huge fan of wood vinyl paneling. But then again, I spent very few years of my life in the 1970s. If you think everything looks better when coated with fake wood panels, you’ve got to check out the WoodWind, a modified MSI Wind (actually an Advent 4211 which is a rebanded Wind) with wood-style vinyl coating…

How many MSI Wind clones are there? At least 18

Would an MSI Wind by any other name still be as sweet a netbook? Because it turns out the MSI Wind goes by at least 18 other names.  MSI is working with at at least 18 companies to produce versions of the popular netbook to be sold under another name. For example, there’s the Advent 4211 in the UK, or…

Advent 4212: Another rebranded ECS G10IL for the UK

Another day, another Advent computer. Last week it was the Advent 4213, a rebranded version of the ECS G10IL. This week it’s the Advent 4212 which is… well, a rebranded G10IL. But the 4212 costs £50 less, at £299. So what’s the difference? First off, it looks like the 4213 comes with a 3G modem while the 4212 does not….

Advent 4213 netbook now available in the UK

The Advent 4211 netbook was basically a rebranded version of the MSI Wind. It’s successor, the Advent 4213 is something else. Blogeee suggests it’s a rebranded ECS G10IL, but it doesn’t really look like one to me. The status LEDs and ports are in different locations. I’m going to go with PC Pro’s suggestion, which is that the 4213 is…

MSI Wind and Advent 4211: Separated at birth, together at last

Sure, you already knew that the Advent 4211 notebook is virtually identical to the MSI Wind. The only major difference is that the Advent PC is only available in the UK and it has Advent branding instead of MSI. But sometimes seeing is believing. Lucky for us, Pocket Lint has access to one of each, and snapped some side by…

Advent 4211 MSI Wind clone gets unboxed

The folks at What Laptop managed to get their hands on an Advent 4211, which is basically a rebranded version of the MSI Wind laptop. The Advent 4211 sells for £280. That’s the equivalent of about $555 US, but unlike the MSI Wind, the Advent 4211 is only available in the UK. Like the Wind, the 4211 has a 10…

Another MSI Wind clone hits the streets

The Medion Akoya Mini isn’t the only mini-notebook bearing a striking resemblance to the MSI Wind. Trusted Reviews notes that the Advent 4211, which is already in stock at UK retailer PC World, is virtually identical to the MSI Wind. Like the Wind, the Advent 4211 has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1Gb of RAM, an 80GB hard drive, a…
