Over the past year or so we’ve seen a new kind of mini-computer emerge from Chinese companies including Pipo and GOLE. They’re designed to work like tiny desktop PCs, but they also have built-in touchscreen displays that let you use them like tablets. Some models even have batteries.
Now there’s a new model on the way, and not only does it have a touchscreen and battery for mobile use and full-sized ports for desktop use. Sunty ‘s upcoming SP-001 mini PC also has a projector.
Under the hood, the SP-001 is a lot like dozens of other mini computers that have hit the market in the past few years. It has an Intel Atom x5-Z8300 Cherry Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of eMMC flash storage, 802.11ac WiFi, and Windows 10 32-bit software.
But the device also features a 6,500 mAh battery, a 7 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel capacitive touchscreen display on top, and a 720p, 200 lumen pico projector on the side that lets you project an image anywhere from 20 inches to 300 inches in size (just don’t expect it to be super bright or sharp if you go beyond 30 or 40 inches).
Other features include a full-sized USB 3.0 port, a microDS card reader, and a full-sized HDMI 1.4 port.
