Huawei is expanding its Honor line of mid-range smartphones with high-end specs. The new Honor 8 smartphone is a 5.2 inch phone with a 1080p display, a Kirin 950 octa-core processor, and a starting price of about $300.
The company unveiled the phone in China, where a model with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage will sell for 1,999 yuan ($299).

There’s also a 2,299 yuan ($343) version with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and a 2,499 yuan ($373) model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot for up to 128GB of removable storage.
Each version has a 12MP dual lens rear camera, an 8MP front-facing camera, a fingerprint scanner, infrared sensor, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and a 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging support.
The Honor 8 has a metal case and comes in black, white, gold, pink, and blue color options.
While many of today’s top phones have Qualcomm or MediaTek processors, Huawei’s Honor 8 uses the company’s own Kirin 950 processor, which features four 2.3 GHz ARM Cortex-A72 CPU cores, four 1.8 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 cores, and Mali T880 MP4 graphics.
