Samsung has been offering a line of premium thin-and-light ultrabooks for a number of years, but in 2013 the company decided to mix things up by offering a sleek machine with high-class design but entry level specs.

Unfortunately the first-gen Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite wasn’t a very pleasant laptop to use.

Now it looks like Samsung is launching a new model, and this time the company is equipping the laptop with an Intel Celeron Skylake processor and 8GB of RAM, which should go a long way toward improving performance.

The new Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite NT910S3L features a 13.3 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixel display, an Intel Pentium 4405U processor with Intel HD 510 graphics, a 128GB solid state drive, and 802.11ac WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1.

The notebook measures 0.7 inches thick and weighs about 3 pounds. While that makes the 9 Lite a reasonably compact computer, there’s a reason Samsung calls this the “Lite” model. The company is also launching the NT900X3L line of 13.3 inch notebooks that measure just half an inch thick and which weigh just 1.9 pounds.

Samsung’s new lite model features a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, a mini Ethernet jack, an SDXC card reader, and a 30 Whr battery.

While Samsung has only officially launched this laptop in South Korea so far, it looks like the laptop may be headed to additional markets including North America, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand.
