Lenovo is updating its mid-range line of Android tablets with the new Lenovo Yoga Tab 3. It comes in 8 and 10 inch sizes, and both versions sport 1280 x 800 pixel displays, 1.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm APQ8009 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.

While those specs might seem a bit underwhelming, there are a few things that help set these tablets apart from the competition.

First, they have built-in kickstands which let you prop them up for use in stand mode. Second, Lenovo says you should be able to get up to 18 hours of battery life from the 10 inch model and up to 20 hours of run time for the 8 inch tablet.

Lenovo says the Yoga Tab 3 8″ will be available in October for €199, while the 10 inch model is coming in November for €299. Want 4G LTE? Add another €50 to the price.

Those are the European prices… the tablets will probably be cheaper in the United States.

The Yoga Tab 3 8″ measures 8.3″ x 5.7″ x 0.3″ and weighs about a pound, while the Yoga Tab 3 10″ is about 10″ x 7.3″ x 0.35″ and 1.4 pounds.

Both the 8 and 10 inch models will ship with Android 5.1 Lollipop software and both feature microSD card slots, support for 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. They’ve also got a single 8 megapixel camera which is on the same thick bezel as the battery and kickstand connector. You can rotate the camera to face the front or back of the camera.

If you’re still underwhelmed by the specs though, there is another option. The Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro is a higher-priced tablet with the same basic design… but that model has an Intel Atom x5-8500 Cherry Trail processor, 2GB of RAM, up to 32GB of storage, and a 10.1 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel display.

Oh yeah, the Yoga Tab 3 Pro also has  built-in projector and four front-facing speakers.

  1. 1280×800? What? Sorry, that is very much 4 years ago. I was very tempted to get a Yoga Tab 2 when I was in Best Buy, both the 8 and 10 I saw had 1920×1200 screens and that twisting stand thing is FANTASTIC. So why would they actually take a big step back in resolution?

These days that kind of resolution should only be on cheap no-name bargain devices priced at $50 or $75. Bad move Lenovo.

  2. APQ8009 = Snapdragon 212

Asking €199 for the 8″ model is insane, it should cost half as much.
