This summer Dell started showing off an upcoming laptop with a 15.6 inch with super-thin bezels, allowing the laptop to be a bit more compact than your typical 15 incher. The Dell XPS 15 with Infinity Display basically looks like a bigger version of the Dell XPS 13 which I reviewed earlier this year.

At the time, Dell wasn’t saying much about the specs for the upcoming Dell XPS 15 laptop. But now the folks at WinFuture have obtained more details about the notebook.

First up, it’ll be powered by an Intel Skylake processor with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M graphics. Ther are options for 1920 x 1080 pixel and 3840 x 2160 pixel IGZO displays, and touchscreens are optional.

The new Dell XPS 15 will reportedly be available with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of solid state storage. The notebook has two USB 3.0 ports, an SD card reader and HDMI port, 802.11ac WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, and a Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) connector which you can use to connect VGA, Ethernet, or other adapters. Dell will also offer a docking station that can connect to the Thunderbolt port.

According to WinFuture, the Dell XPS 15 9550 notebook measures about 0.67 inches thick and weighs about 3.8 pounds, making it pretty compact for notebook with a big screen.

Just don’t expect it to be cheap: a top-of-the-line model is said to be priced at nearly $2,200, although there will be lower-priced options available.

  1. I’ve been waiting for one of these for a while. I’d like a standard 1080p(non-touch), 500gb drive, and 8gb memory to bring the cost way way way down. Also, if the touchpad is garbage… forget it all together. I REALLY want this with a fx-8800p 35watt chip or as a 14″ model.

  2. “up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of solid state storage” – I doubt that. The 13 inch already offers this RAM and more storage space.

    1. The 256GB was a brain fart on my part. The leak says 512GB. I suspect the system can support more memory and storage, but Dell will only sell it in certain configurations.

I have no idea how hard it would be to upgrade the RAM yourself though.

  3. While I want one, 8GB max seems odd and that 4k panel, while amazing as all get out, will probably result in a 5 minute battery life.

  4. I’d buy this if it supported more RAM. My 2011 macbook supports 16GB. When using Adobe CS, VMs, etc, 8GB is just not enough…

      1. I’m not sure that it won’t *support* more than 8GB. It’s just that the leak says it’ll only ship with up to 8GB pre-installed.

  5. If they’d upgrade the XPS 13 to have USB-c and an HDMI port, i’d buy it in a heartbeat.

    1. they already did. i saw it on youtube.i think it was posted 3 weeks ago.

  6. This and the XPS 13 are probably the best looking laptops on the market.

    1. j’ai jamais aimé Dell mais le XPS 13 et maintenant le XPS 15 sont tout deux de pur merveilles!

    2. They look good, but have real problems. I tried one. The fan blew constantly and emitted a high-pitched whine. The trackpad was sad compared to a Macbook. Returned it.

      1. They got rid of the coil whine. The track pad I do not care about seeing as I will not use it.
