The Google Chrome web browser and Chrome OS have supported “OK Google” hotword detection for over a year. Just type chrome://flags into the location bar, find the experimental OK Google feature and click the enable button.
Up  until recently this has only let you use your voice to search the web after opening a new tab. Now there’s a way to configure a Chromebook so that it’s always listening.
Google’s François Beaufort notes that you’ll need a Chromebook running the dev channel of Chrome OS. Once you turn on hotword-hardware detection you should be able to go to the Chrome OS settings and choose an option for enabling “OK Google.”
Once that’s done, you can use voice search any time your Chromebook is turned on and the screen is unlocked. It doesn’t matter whether a blank tab is open or not. You can be watching a movie, surfing the web, or staring at you wallpaper. You’ll still be able to search for a web page or ask a question such as “what time is it?” or “will it rain tomorrow?”

How about, “NSA, can you hear(/see) me??”
How about starting a Google Voice call? I’ve wanted that since the hotword was a thing.
