Lenovo is expected to launch a new line of Yoga tablets this week, including new models with 8, 10, and 13 inch displays. Some will run Android, while others will run Windows.
Up until recently that’s about all we knew about the new tablets. But new details have emerged, giving us a better idea of what to expect from Lenovo’s October 9th event.
A couple of websites have found specs and photos of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 2-830 8 inch Android tablet and the Yoga 2-1050 model with a 10 inch screen. Some details for the new 13.3 inch Yoga 2 Pro-1380 have also emerged.
I’ve also found listings for the 8 inch and 10 inch tablets at Exporters.sg, and retail listings for the 8 inch and 13 inch models at Rue du Commerce, confirming the specs.
All of the new tablets seem to keep the same design language as last year’s Lenovo Yoga tablets, including a unusual design where one side of the tablet is thicker and heavier than the other. This gives you something to grip when holding the tablet in a single hand, gives Lenovo a place to stuff a large battery, and allows the tablets to include a small kickstand that you can use to prop up the tablet without worrying that it’ll tip over.
Lenovo Yoga 2-830 and Yoga 2-1050
It looks like the smaller models will feature 1920 x 1200 pixel displays, Intel Atom Z3745 Bay Trail quad-core processors, 2GB of RAM, and support for 4G LTE wireless networks. They’ll run Google Android 4.4 KitKat software.
The 8 inch tablet will have 16GB of storage or more and may support making voice calls over LTE, allowing you to use the tablet like a big phone. This model is expected to weigh about 14 ounces.
Lenovo’s 10 inch model seems to come standard with 32GB of storage.
Both devices have microSD card slots, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 8MP rear cameras, and 1.6MP front cameras.
The 8 inch tablet is expected to sell for 218 Euros when it goes on sale in Europe on October 23rd, while the 10 inch model should sell for about 440 Euros.
Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 1380
The biggest member of Lenovo’s new tablet family has a 13.3 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixel IPS display. It has a 9600mAh battery and weighs about 2 pounds.
Other specs for this model seem to be pretty much the same as those for the 10 inch tablet, including an Atom Z3745 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage.
The 13 inch tablet is expected to be available in Europe starting October 23rd for about 475 Euros. I haven’t seen any news about US pricing.
I also haven’t seen any more news about the Windows versions of these tablets — but since all three models feature Intel Atom processors, it’s possible that the only differences between the Android and Windows versions will be the software (and a Windows logo below the screen).
We should find out more about these devices when Lenovo holds its launch event on October 9th.

I like this Yoga form factor. 8″ is sweet and it has phone capability.
Love my Yoga 8. If they’re using Intel chips, I don’t see why they can’t make a Windows tablet with this form factor. I’d snatch that up in a heartbeat.

Does it still feel clunky to hold after getting used to it? I tried one in a store and the shape felt like holding an Apple wireless keyboard (not so good).
I love the design. In fact, the design helps me ignore some other shortcomings. The “bump” is great for holding it as an e-reader. And the kickstand is pure genius.
I wonder why there is such a huge price difference between 8″ (218 euros) and 10″ (440 euros).
7-8” may be the sweet spot for tablets. It’s like a 15” laptop – no matter you go bigger or smaller, you pay more… (netbooks aside)
