Xiaomi is getting into the health tech space. The company launched a $13 fitness tracker this summer, and Xiaomi is partnering with a company called iHealth Labs to launch a blood pressure monitor that’s designed to work with a smartphone.
Just connect your phone to a special dock, hook up the blood pressure sensor, and you can view your vital stats on your phone.
Xiaomi plans to offer the iHealth monitor in China for 199 yuan, or about $32 US.
In addition to checking blood pressure, the device will be able to monitor your heart rate and the mobile app will show real-time results as well as changes over time.
You can already buy an iHealth blood pressure monitor for use with an iPhone or Android device but that blood pressure monitor is a wireless device that’ll set you back $100.
Update: It looks like US customers can also buy the iHealth blood pressure monitor that Xiaomi offers in China. It costs $80 in the States, though. thanks realjjjT
Thew new model Xiaomi will offer is designed to work with the company’s phones… but it should also support Android devices from other manufacturers.
In related news, an iHealth wireless scale just passed through the FCC.

I’m equally excited about the upcoming bluetooth connected Xiaomi Mi-Cheese Grater.
Do you know if the rumors are correct about it being a dual-purpose grater for both cheese and vegetables?
as far as I know, it’s an universal grater, greater than a dual purpose grater. It can grate an iPhone 6 or even itself if you try hard enoug.
