What do you get if you take the guts of a Sony Xperia Z3 smartphone and put them into a super-slim 8 inch tablet? The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact.

Once you get past the name that seems to have been designed by committee, Sony’s new Android tablet looks pretty intriguing. It measures 0.25 inches thick, weighs 9.5 ounces, has a waterproof case, and it’s the only tablet that supports PlayStation 4 Remote Play, which lets you stream games from your PS4 to your tablet over a home network.

Sony’s new flagship smartphones also support that feature.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, an 8 inch full HD display, and up to 13 hours of battery life during video playback thanks to a 4500mAh battery.

It doesn’t have the 20.7MP rear camera you get with the Xperia Z3 smartphone. But the tablet does have an 8.1MP rear camera and 2.2Mp front-facing camera.

The Sony Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact should be available this fall.
