Wikipad sells an Android tablet that slides into a dock to become a portable gaming machine with physical buttons. But the company’s branching out into iPad accessories.
The Gamevice is a controller that you can attach to an iPad mini to give it analog sticks, buttons, and a D-Pad.
Wikipad plans to launch the Gamevice in time for the holiday season. There will be two versions, both designed for Apples 7.9 inch tablet. One will have a small battery for the controller itself while the other will also be able to act as an external battery pack for the tablet.
Of course, most iOS games were designed for touch controls. But there are a growing number of third-party controller for iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone devices, so many developers are adding support for buttons — and the Gamevice should work with any of those games.
There’s no word yet on how much the system will cost, but you can sign up to receive updates via email at the Gamevice website.
