Samsung could sell its firs tablet with a 4K Ultra HD display by the end of 2014. But the company isn’t waiting until then to build a 4K tablet. In fact, it’s already made one.
The folks at TechRadar spotted the tablet at French Open event.
The tablet is said to have a 12 inch, ultra HD display and at this point it’s just a reference device for mobile operators and others that want to test and demonstrate their ability to stream high quality video.
Samsung’s tablet is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, but TechRadar suggests that by the time Samsung is actually read to ship tablets with 4K screens they’ll probably be powered by Snapdragon 805 chips which include better support for upscaling 720p and 1080p video to 4K resolutions.

I really don’t see the point in a screen like this on mobile devices at least until battery tech improves exponentially.
This 4k tablet is of size of 12″. Its pixel density is lower than 5″ FHD smart phones (and exactly like 6″ FHD phones). Its pixel density is actually quite standard.
As for the battery needs – it shouldn’t be worse than a FHD 6″ phone as there is a room for more than 4 times the size of the phone’s battery.
I’m still blown away by the screen in the Tab Pro 8.4.
It makes me wonder if it is even necessary to have a 4k display in a tablet, but hey go for it.
Just notice how you need current gen hardware to support them.
