Tired of using your Chromecast to watch TV, movies, and cat videos? Now you can watch live sporting events.

MLB.TV has added Chromecast support to its MLB at Bat apps for mobile devices.

That means you can fire up the mobile app on your iOS or Android device to watch live games and hit the cast icon to send video to your TV. The app also supports instant replay, news, stats, and other features.

The service doesn’t come cheap — you’ll need to pony up $25 per month or $130 per year for an MLB.tv Premium subscription. But for cord cutters, that’s probably cheaper than signing up for cable just to access live baseball games.

MLB.TV Premium already works on a range of other devices including Roku, Apple TV, WD TV, TiVo, and Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Amazon Fire TV support is also on the way.

    1. Yes, that is the truth. MLB.tv isn’t any good when the home games are blacked out.

      1. I know unless you are not local anymore as they will show if you dont live in the area (or are not watching with a local IP). It is as if the MLB hates there fans. KC has Rex Hudler announcing anyway so still would not purchase unless you could stream the radio annoucers as you are watching. Good guy but terrible announcer and does not bleed blue like a true Royals fan let alone announcer should. Still dont understand why we would hire a never was yankee to annouce for the Royals. There are plenty of never was or has been royals to choose from.

        1. You can change the audio stream while you’re watching (at least on the ROKU). Under audio stream you can usually choose radio or even just the stadium sounds (ie no commentary, just crowd noise.)
