NoiseTrade has been offering free music from upcoming and established artists since 2008. You can visit the website to discover new music, listen in a browser, or download DRM-free samplers or even full albums. If you like the music you can leave a tip, but the only thing NoiseTrade requires is an email address — which artists can use to let you know about upcoming shows, albums, and more.
Now NoiseTrade is expanding into books.
You can visit NoiseTrade Books to find DRM-free eBooks and audiobooks from a number of authors. Want to download a book? Just tap the Download button, enter an email address, and check your inbox for a download link. You can leave a tip if you’d like, but no cash is required.
The list isn’t of available content isn’t incredibly long or surprising: Some of the first titles available include the works of anti-DRM activist (and Sci Fi writer) Cory Doctorow and internet marketing guru Gary Vaynerchuk, among others.
I’ve been using NoiseTrade to discover new music for a few years, and now I’ll be keeping an eye on the website as a way to discover new authors as well.
NoiseTrade’s catalogue now also includes… me!
I currently have two full novels on the service, released under Creative Commons licenses. If you’re looking for some sci-fi, give me a shot. 🙂
