HP is taking a page out of Lenovo’s book and launching a new line of convertible notebooks that literally bend over backward to become tablets. The HP Pavilion x360 is a notebook with an 11.6 inch touchscreen display and 360 degree hinge. Flip the lid up 90 degrees and you’ve got a laptop. Keep flipping until the screen is on the other side of the keyboard, and you’ve got a tablet.

But while Lenovo’s Yoga convertibles tend to run $500 and up, the HP Pavilion x360 is a budget device with prices starting at $400.

It’s expected to hit the streets starting February 26th.

The entry-level HP Pavilion x360 features a 1366 x 768 pixel display, an Intel Pentium N3520 Bay Trail processor, and has a 500GB hard drive. HP will also offer higher-priced options such as a 500GB hybrid hard drive with solid state cache, and up to 8GB of RAM.

Each model has HDMI and Ethernet ports, an SD card slot, 3 USB ports, Beats audio, 802.11n WiFI and Bluetooth 4.0.

The computer weighs about 3.1 pounds, which is a tad heavy for a tablet, but not bad for a 4400 portable notebook. It comes in red or silver colors and features a soft touch plastic case with a brushed aluminum area around the keyboard.
