Asus may be getting to launch its first Chrome OS laptops. VR-Zone reports the Asus C200 and Asus C300 Chromebooks are coming this year, possibly sporting 11.6 inch and 13 inch displays, respectively.

Acer, Samsung, HP, Toshiba, and Lenovo already offer Chromebooks, making Asus a late-comer to the space. But Asus did introduce its first Chrome OS device this month. The Asus Chromebox is a tiny desktop computer designed to run Chrome OS.

The Asus Chromebox is due to launch in March, and will be available in the US with a choice of an Intel Celeron 2955U or Intel Celeron Core i3-4010U Haswell processor. A Core i7 model will also be available in some markets. Prices for the Celeron model are expected to start at $179.

It’s not clear if the price or specs for the Asus Chromebox provide any clues about the upcoming Asus Chromebooks.

  1. Hold the fucking phone, go to the source article and google translate makes it sound like one of these also run SteamOS. If there is a chrome book that would also run steamOS you would make me a very happy customer. Just being able to play TF2 alone would massively add to the value of any chromebook.

That would also make it the first steambox laptop, which would be pretty awesome.

  2. I suppose we can all hope Asus releases something with a higher resolution display than the other 11.6″ and 13″ chromebooks have had so far. 1920×1080 would be a big improvement over the current 1366×768 chromies. I’m not holding out much hope, though.
