Motorola’s Moto G smartphone is an inexpensive smartphone that normally sells for $179 and up. But if you’re not content with the nearly vanilla version of Android that you normally get with the Moto G… now you can pick up a version that comes with a 100% stock version of Android.
Google is now selling a Moto G Google Play Edition phone through the Google Play Store. It still costs $179 and up.
The phone comes with 8GB to 16GB of storage and isn’t locked to a carrier or a service plan. It’ll work with GSM carriers including T-Mobile and AT&T in the United States.
The Moto G features a 4.5 inch, 1280 x 720 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor, a 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front-facing camera and has a 2070mAh battery. It supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. It ships with Android 4.4 KitKat software.
Like other Google Play Edition devices, software updates will be handled by the phone maker… but since the Moto G Google Play Edition will run software that’s virtually the same as what you get on a Nexus device, it shouldn’t take long for Motorola to adopt future Android updates to run on the phone. Oh yeah, Google also owns Motorola Mobility.
Is a GP edition of the Moto G even necessary?
If I need to buy a new phone soon, this is certainly it (even though I am frustrated with Android).
I would get a Nexus 5 for 4G LTE speeds.
Not for under $200 you can’t.
this might sound nit-picky but this is the first smart phone or dumb phone for that matter that i ever heard of that doesn’t come with a charger!!!come on i know its a good deal but charge a dollar more and give people a complete kit,,,,kind of kooky…but at least they give you the 75 cent charging cord !!
Actually it is about time they stopped doing it, the vast majority of people now own at least one charger and the ones who don’t have something with a USB port to stick the cable into, be it a laptop or desktop PC or even a TV. USB has truly become a ‘universal’ port.
