Chinese device maker Huawei has been offering Android tablets for a while… but the company’s last few entries have been somewhat lackluster. Now the company is launching a new 7 inch model with a full HD display and what look like pretty decent specs.

It’s called the Huawei MediaPad X1 7.0 and it’s due to hit China in February.

The tablet has a 7 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display, a 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor, and ARM Mali-450 graphics. It has 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software. At least some models also seem to support GSM and WCMDA cellular networks.

While the operating system is a few generations old at this point, the rest of the features look pretty good.

The MediaPad X1 is expected to measures 7.2″ x 4.1″ x 0.3″ and weighs just 8.4 ounces. That makes it thinner and lighter than Google’s latest Nexus 7 tablet.

  1. I am guessing this is using Amlogic-802m since it’s the only A9 quad core I know of that uses Mali 450.
