Sharp introduced a 10 inch tablet with a 2560 x 1600 pixel IGZO display, an Intel Atom Bay Trail processor, and Windows 8.1 software in September. Now it looks like the company is finally ready to launch the tablet. The Sharp Mebius Pad is expected to launch in Japan in late January.
Sadly, like most tablets from Sharp, we probably won’t see this one in the US anytime soon.
The tablet features an Atom Z3770 processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and support for digital pen input. It supports WiFi and Bluetooth, has an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, and comes with Microsoft Office software.
Sharp’s IGZO displays are designed to use less power than traditional LCDs, while allowing for high pixel densities. But IGZO technology has been criticized for its color reproduction, compared with the displays in recent tablets from Samsung, Asus, and others.

I have not seen an IGZO screen but I hear good things about them. On a less positive note, 2GB of RAM? Seriously?
The Atom W8 tablets run 32-bit Windows, so it’s can’t use much more than 3GB anyhow. I own a Venue 8 and a T100, though, and both run well on 2Gb.
