Once upon a time an all-in-one desktop was actually more of a 4-in-1 proposition. While the PC and monitor were in one case, you also needed a keyboard, mouse, and power cable. These days you can get a real all-in-one, thanks to a growing number of PC makers offering touchcscreen AiO desktops with built-in batteries.
The latest entry is the Acer Aspire Z3-600, a Windows PC with a 21.5 inch full HD display, an Intel Pentium processor, and up to 2.5 hours of battery life.
While the PC might not have enough juice to justify taking it to the local coffee shop, you should be able to move it around the house without shutting it down first, and maybe even watch a movie without stopping to plug in.
The Acer Z3-600 features a 1920 x 1080 pixel display with 170 degree viewing angles, a flexible hinge that lets you adjust the angle of the computer while it’s propped up on a desk or table, and stereo 2.5 W Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby audio.
The stand can tilt up to 90 degrees, and you can also fold it flat and lie the system down flat to play board games or even use the machine like an enormous tablet.
It features a 10-point capacitive touch panel, 4GB of RAM, an Intel Pentium quad-core processor, and up to a 750GB hard drive. Acer’s Press release says the computer has a Pentium J2580, but that’s most likely a typo — there’s no mention of that chip on the Intel website. What you can find on Intel’s site is a Pentium J2850 chip, which is a 2.4 GHz quad-core chip with Intel HD graphics and a 10W TDP. It’s based on the same Silvermont/Bay Trail architecture as Intel’s latest Ato processors.
The system also features USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI port with MHL capabilities.
Acer says the prices should start at $779 when the computer goes on sale later in December.

WHY NO CDROM?
Does anyone know if this Acer Aspire Z3-600 all-in-one will
have a vga-in port? That way, I can also use it to display my laptop output,
with the help of a kvm switch. This new Acer seems very good in many ways, but
it would be even better for me if it has vga in.
likely answer is no, it’s getting somewhat tricky to find VGA on devices these days, VGA in even more so unless it’s an old monitor.
Thanks. I had purchased an HP 23-b320 which was a 23 inch all in one. Besides the disk startup errors this new PC had, I realized I couldn’t use its screen to display my work laptop. I liked the HP’s looks and footprint but I had to return it. Dell has a 23 inch all in one with a vga in but it looks clumsy. I’ll wait until this Acer comes out but probably will have to pass it by
