Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor is already one of fastest ARM-based chips around… but next year Qualcomm plans to introduce a new model that brings a 40 percent graphics boost, support for 4K Ultra HD video playback, and a new, faster CPU architecture.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 will be the first chip based on Qualcomm’s Krait 450 architecture with Adreno 420 graphics.
The quad-core chip runs at clock speeds up to 2.5 GHz and has memory bandwidth that can support up to 25.6 GB per second.
Qualcomm’s new processor features support for 802.11ac WiFi, 4G LTE mobile broadband, and image processing technology designed to help you snap better pictures with a smartphone camera, including motion shots and photos taken in low-light environments.
The Snapdragon 805 should show up in phones and tablets in the first half of 2014.
