There’s no shortage of places to look for a decent, low-cost Android tablet these days. The Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab, and Amazon Kindle Fire families are usually a good place to start.
But if you’re looking for something even cheaper… you usually have to settle for less exciting specs. And that’s what consumer electronics company Philips seems to be offering with its latest Android tablet.
Hungarian blog Tech2.hu reports the Philips Amio tablet will be available in Europe this month for about 100 Euros.
The tablet sports a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel LCD display, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a micro USB port, micro HDMI port, and headset jack. It has a 3000mAh battery and the Amio tablet will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software.
If there’s one selling point for the tablet, it’s that Philips is including its “FullSound” technology, which the company claims improves the audio quality of MP3 files by applying digital signal processing to compressed audio files.
The Philips Amio tablet isn’t the company’s first foray into the cheap Android tablet space. In early 2012 the company unveiled a few Android tablets aimed at the Chinese market.

that’s almost absolute shit!!!!
I guess someone has to take over for Coby…
total ripoff at that price ($130 USD) I am betting dollars to donuts that it is an Amlogic… considering you can get the Hisense lt for roughly $80 USD, or a refurbed Nexus 7 who in their right mind would buy this piece of crap.. they could have at-least included an IPS display for that much.
True, however, this is Europe, prices here are always the same in euros as in dollars, ie, 100$ device costs here at least 100 euros.
They might be targeting European Walmart equivalents, but are defiling their brand with a device of this ilk.
