Acer’s adding a new 27 inch monitor to its Smart Display lineup. The Acer TA272HUL is a touchscreen display with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and you can use it as a monitor and touch panel for a PC thanks to an HDMI input.

But you can also use the display as a standalone Android device for surfing the web, playing games, or watching videos, among other things.

The Acer TA272HUL features an NVIDIA Tegra 4 ARM Cortex-A15 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software.

That gives it a faster processor and higher resolution screen than any Acer Smart Display released to date.

It’s not clear whether this model will be sold internationally, but it appears to be priced at a little under $500 in Taiwan.

The Smart Display features support for 10-point multitouch input and features 178 degree viewing angles. It has built-in WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet. There are 2 HDMI ports, 2 USB 3.0 ports, a full-sized SD card slot, a headset jack, and 3W Harman Kardon speakers.

  1. “The Smart Display features support for 10-point multitouch input”

THANK GOD. I’ve complained about this with other similar items, and this seems to be the fix. A smart monitor with *10* point multitouch. Finally! No optical 2-point BS. And for under $500? That’s great.

Hope this comes to the US soon.

  2. Or you can program using RFO Basic! or AIDE (Java) or install any of several decent Office suites, etc. Android has already moved far beyond infotainment.

  3. This is a neat idea.
As it is I’m using an android mini pc with one of my pc monitors which works great when all I’m doing is surfing and don’t need the gaming rig fired up.
    I sure wouldn’t mind a touchscreen too!

  4. If they can do this, they can make a 10 inch tablet that lets us plug in our PC’s. I know it sounds ridiculous, but would be nice if a Nexus 10 could let us use that 2560×1600 screen directly with our PC’s.

    1. The previous acer android screen also had it where you could use it as a multitouch led panel for win8.

Actually they should take a Google TV approach and have it where the HDMI IN is access via an app, that way you can overlay android info and switch both with ease.
