Toys R Us will says its latest Android tablet for kids will be available in-stores and online starting Monday, October 14th. The Tabeo e2 is an 8 inch tablet with a dual-core processor, quad-core GPU, and Android 4.2 software.

The tablet is aimed at kids and has a protective case, comes with educational apps and games pre-loaded, and features the tabeo App Store rather than Google’s Play Store — while that’s not always a good thing, it might actually be a selling point for a tablet you plan to hand over to your kids.

Toys R Us charges $150 for the Tabeo e2.

The tablet features 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a 2MP front camera, and a 0.3MP rear camera. It supports WiFi and Bluetooth, has an 8 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel capacitive  multitouch display, an HDMI port, and a microSD card slot for up to 64GB of additional storage. The tablet gets up to 5 hours of run time.

There’s parental filtering software that lets you decided what content your kids can access, and the case is designed to withstand a bit of abuse — the screen is designed not to break even if the tablet falls to the floor.

  1. Do u have to be connected to the internet to play apps that are pre installed?

  2. Yessiree – SD Card slot (Yippeeee!), HDMI, drop-resistant, reasonable specs, fairly recent Android version, OK price. Now all it needs is a good rooting 😉

  3. ipad mini with SD card and HDMI. Only has 5 hour battery, but doesn’t break easy.

  4. Great Idea! Looks like a great price point too. Low and behold an microSD slot too. If only Google, Samsung, Apple and other big names could do that, just think of the possibilities! A microSD slot would have been awesome on my $99 fire-sale HP Touchpad (maybe they wouldn’t have need to get rid of then if they had a microSD. My google Nexus 7 2013 really could have used one too! ( bad Google 🙁 )

Anyway this looks like a winner for kids and parents. Hopefully it has some decent support with updates and performance on graphic intense games with the Quad core GPU. I like the idea of the filtering software, we need to keep our kids away from the bad stuff as long as possible. It will also give today’s kids a built in challenge to think creatively once they reach that level to find ways to bypass or disable it! I wish I had one of these growing up!!! I would buy one of these for my kid instead of a pricey iPad or much higher end android device and a otterbox like case to protect it.
