Lenovo appears to be working on a mobile device that looks like a 10 inch netbook, but which has a display that flips back 360 degrees so you can use the machine as a tablet, Yoga-style. It’s called the Lenovo IdeaPad A10, and it’s an Android device with a Rockchip RK3188 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor.

Update: Upon closer inspection of the user manual and photos, I’m not sure there is a tablet mode. It looks like the screen folds back far enough to use in “tent mode,” but it might not lie flat against the keyboard for use as a slate.

While Lenovo hasn’t yet introduced the device, the service manual and user guide are available at the company’s website, and retail listings are starting to pop up in Germany.

Lenovo IdeaPad A10

It’s not clear if or when the IdeaPad A10 will be available in the United States, but it’s selling for 249 Euros in Germany.

Here’s a run-down of the specs:

  • 1.6 GHz Rockchip RK3188 CPU
  • 10.1 inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display
  • 1GB or 2GB of RAM
  • 16GB or 32GB of storage
  • 2 USB 2.0 ports
  • micro USB port
  • microSD card slot
  • combo mic/headset jack
  • stereo speakers
  • built-in mic
  • HDMI port
  • WiFi
  • Bluetooth
  • 0.3MP camera
  • 22.6 Whr battery

The notebook has a QWERTY keyboard with special Android function keys for back, home, settings, and apps menu, among other things.

While there are plenty of Android hybrids on the market, offering tablets with detachable displays, it’s less common to find a model with a built-in keyboard. While that makes the tablet a bit heavier, it also makes it less likely that you’ll accidentally leave the keyboard at home.
