HP is introducing three new tablets for the Chinese market. All three models feature Allwinner A31s quad-core processors and 7 to 8 inch displays, and run Google Android 4.2 software.

While these are all budget devices, some models look a little more attractive than others.

HP Compaq tablet

The Compaq 7 has a 7 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel TN display with poor viewing angles, for instance. But the Compaq 7+ has a higher quality IPS display.

Meanwhile the Compaq 8 tablet features a 7.85 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel IPS display that’s reminiscent of the original iPad mini screen.

The tablets all feature Allwinner’s low-power A31S ARM Cortex-A7 quad-core processor with PowerVR SGX544MP2 graphics, 1GB of RAM, and from 8GB to 16GB of storage.

Prices start at 999 Yuan, or about $160 US.

HP also recently introduces 4 new Android tablets for the US market. But those models have higher-resolution displays and faster processors than their Chinese counterparts.

One reply on “HP launches budget Android tablets line in China (under Compaq name)”

  1. HP is one company that sucks at everything they do lately.

Their Windows PCs are not inspiring and overpriced.
Their android tablets are crap with boring designs and low end specs.
Their chromebook has the same innards as the year old device at higher price.

Now they are releasing more android tablets with even worse specs and get killed by other Chinese companies.
