Don’t like the software that came with your Android phone? For almost as long as device makers and wireless carriers have been offering smartphones running Google’s mobile operating system, hackers have been building their own versions of Android which you can install on many Android phones and tablets.

CyanogenMod is one of the most popular. It’s known for offering an experience similar to what you’d get from stock Android straight from Google, but with a few extra bells and whistles. But in recent months, the team’s gone kind of wild, introducing its own camera app, a remote locate and wipe service, a per-app incognito mode, and more.

If you’ve been wondering what’s going on with CyanogenMod, tomorrow’s a good time to find out. Some key members of the team will be answering questions live in an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session at reddit tomorrow.

Update: Question answered. What’s up with CyanogenMod? They’ve raised $7 million and started a company to make their custom Android firmware awesome(r).
