Lenovo is introducing a new line of thin and light laptops aimed at business and enterprise customers. The Lenovo ThinkPad X240 features a 12.5 inch display and weighs less than 3 pounds, but it has a rugged, military spec-tested design.
The company is also introducing a new ThinkPad T440 notebook with a 14 inch screen. That model’s a bit heavier, at about 4 pounds.
The laptops will be available this month for $1099 and $899, respectively.
Lenovo will offer models with up to 256GB of solid state storage or up to 1TB of hard drive space.
But one of the most interesting features is the new “Power Bridge” battery system. It lets you swap out batteries without shutting down the laptop, thanks to a two-battery system.
Lenovo says you’ll be able to get up to 17 hours of battery life when using both batteries.
U chips or the normal M chips?

And for you it pros a new power pack.
I love the two battery design.
I haven’t really tried it myself, but it seems to me like that big buttonless trackpad will be a bitch to type on. I already had problems with previous models where I had to disable the trackpad altogether. But now it’s so big AND there are no physical buttons 🙁
I just hope I’m wrong on this.
I’ve tried the new clickpad when using the trackpoint on some models released this year when a supplier brought them over. It makes using the trackpoint worse. If you’re a person who hates trackpoints then the new clickpad isn’t worse than previous clickpads.
Anyway, as trackpoint users here, we’re looking more into the new Latitudes now.
I’m not going to rant, but I agree with the above. Has anyone said anything good about the new buttonless approach? They should keep the buttons as optional at least…
