Asus Zenbook unveils UX301 ultrabook with WQHD touchscreen

Asus is updating its premium ultrabook range with a new model featuring a high-resolution display, a speedy processor, and faster WiFi.

The Asus Zenbook UX301 is a 13.3 inch ultrabook featuring a 2560 x 1440 pixel touchscreen display and an Intel Haswell processor.

Asus says the laptop will be available with up to a 4th generation Intel Core i7 processor, and that it features 802.11ac WiFi. It also has a pane of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the lid, giving the laptop a smooth and scratch-resistant finish.

Like other members of the Zenbook family, this is a super-thin laptop, measuring less than two thirds of an inch thick. But Asus is promising “stunning audio quality” thanks to SonicMaster audio technology.

The Asus Zenbook UX301 will feature up to Intel HD 5100 graphics, will be available with 4GB to 8GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of solid state storage. It will also be available with a lower-resolution 1920 x 1080 pixel display.

Asus will also offer a Zenbook UX302 model featuring either Intel HD 4400 graphcis or an optional NVIDIA GeForce GT730m discrete graphics card.

That model will also support up to 750GB of hard drive space, plus a 16GB solid state cache drive.

Both models feature 50Whr batteries, DisplayPort, and USB 3.0 ports. The Zenbook UX301 measures 12.8″ x 8.9″ x 0.61″ and weighs 3 pounds. The Zenbook UX301 is a little thicker and heavier, at 0.67″ and 3.3 pounds.

I’d really prefer discrete graphics such as nVidia or AMD. Intel’s graphics, though much better than before, are just too weak for me.

Ruel Smith, have you seen the Asus UX32VD DH71 with an NVIDIA_GeForce_GT_620M and a 1080p screen? It’s a powerhouse of a machine once you take it a apart and upgrade the HDD to an SSD and add 10gb of RAM.
