The Acer Iconia W3 is the smallest, cheapest Windows tablet on the market. It has an 8 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, an Intel Atom Z2760, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage or more, and it comes with Office Home & Student pre-loaded. The tablet has a list price of $379, although it’s often available for even less.

Right now the Microsoft Store is offering the best price I’ve seen so far. You can pick up a model with 32GB of storage for $249, or a 64GB model for $299.

Note that the tablet does not have an IPS display, which means that viewing angles are limited. And the Atom processor isn’t exactly a speed demon. But for $249, you may not care.

  1. Acer has mentioned that they intend to update it with a better screen soon, which is probably the main reason for the price drop to clear stock…

No word on whether they’ll also update the processor to Bay Trail though…

    1. That was based on a misquote. After a number of sites reported that news, Acer said they weren’t planning a new version of this model just yet. I suspect they just meant their next tablet will have a better screen…. Whenever it arrives.

  2. But your new shoes are worn at the heels

And your suntan does rapidly peel

And your wise men don’t know how it feels

To be thick… as a brick!
    Apologies to Jethro Tull.
