Google’s new 7 inch tablet is now available for purchased at a number of retailers. The new Nexus 7 was originally scheduled to hit stores July 30th, but it looks like folks just couldn’t wait, and now the tablet is available for purchase in the US for $229 and up.
Actually, make that $199 and up. Staples is running a tablet sale that lets you knock $30 off the price of any tablet with the coupon code 41178. You can use it to pick up a Kindle Fire HD 7 for as little as $129. Or you can buy a new Nexus 7 for the same price as last year’s model.
The second-generation Nexus 7 features a 7 inch, 1920 x 1200 pixel display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB to 32GB of storage.
Not only does it have a faster CPU and higher resolution display than its predecessor, but it also has a brighter screen with better color reproduction, an extra hour of battery life, and a rear camera (as well as a front-facing camera). Google even threw in an LED notification light this time around.
Surprisingly, it also comes in a slightly thinner case.
While Staples is offering the best price (until the coupon expires on July 28th), here are some other places you can buy a new Nexus 7 tablet:
