Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab 3 with an 8 inch screen

Like the idea of an 8 inch Samsung tablet, but don’t want to pay $380 and up for a model with a digital pen like the Galaxy Note 8.0? No problem. Samsung’s adding an 8 inch model to its cheaper Galaxy Tab lineup.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (8.0) features an 8 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1.5 GHz Samsung Exynos dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and up to 32GB of storage.

While Samsung hasn’t unveiled the price for the new tablet yet, the hardware suggests it’ll be cheaper than the 8 inch Galaxy Note tablet.

The Galaxy Tab 3 (8.0) has a 5MP rear camera, a 1.3Mp front-facing camera, 16GB to 32GB of storage, a 4450mAh battery, and 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. 3G and 4G models will also be available, and the tablet supports A-GPS and GLONASS navigation.

It has a 4450mAh battery, measures 8.3″ x 4.9″ x 0.29″ and weighs 11 ounces.

The tablet runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software. It also runs Samsung’s custom software including the Samsung Hub music, games, and video apps, Samsung’s S Translator, S Travel, and Dual View apps, and ChatON chat app. It also features the Google Play Store and other Google apps including Google Maps, YouTube, and Google Now.
