Lenovo is getting ready to update its ultrabook lineup with new 13 and 14 inch models featuring Intel Haswell processors. The upcoming Lenovo IdeaPad U330 looks like an updated to the 13 inch U310 ultrabook that’s on the market today, while the new 14 inch model is called the IdeaPad U430.

Both are expected to feature 4th-generation Intel processors and optional touchscreen displays.

Lenovo hasn’t yet announced either laptop in the US, but the company’s Japanese website has some specs for the IdeaPad U330p and U330 Touch. I spotted the Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch in a listing on the FCC website.

Update: The IdeaPad U330 also hit the FCC recently.

All I really know about the 14 inch model is that it will have a Qualcomm Atheros wireless card with WiFi and Bluetooth, and judging by the name, it should have a 14 inch touchscreen display.

There are a few more details about the 13 inch model. It’s expected to support up to 8GB of RAM, come with a 500GB hard drive and 16GB solid state disk, and feature HDMI, 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port, and an SD card reader.

The IdeaPad U330 will be available with a choice of Intel Core i3-4010U or Core i5-4200U processor, and will be available with 1366 x 768 pixel and 1920 x 1080 pixel display options.

Some models will be available with 10-point capacitive multiotuch displays. Since touchscreens are required by Intel’s latest ultrabook guidelines, models without touch panels will technically just be thin notebooks, not ultrabooks.

Lenovo will offer the U330 in gray or orange. It’s expected to go on sale in Japan in July.

I haven’t found any details on when the IdeaPad U330 or U430 will be available in the US, or how much the new notebooks will cost in the States.

  1. The Lenovo U310 came with 500 GB (Serial ATA, 5400 rpm) + 32GB SSD. The U330 has 16GB SSD as mentioned by you in the article. Wonder if that is going to make any performance difference for hardcore users.
