The Cube U35GT is an Android tablet with an iPad mini-like design. It features a 7.9 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel display and a rather thin bezel around the screen, much like Apple’s tablet.
But while the iPad mini has a starting price of $329, the Cube U35GT sells for around $190 and up. It’s available from a number of sellers at AliExpress, and Geekbuying is taking pre-orders.
The tablet features a Rockchip RK3188 ARM Cortex-A9 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It ships with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean software.
In other words, the Cube U35GT is a lot like a smaller version of the 10 inch Cube U30GT2 tablet I reviewed recently. The new model has a smaller, lower resolution display and less built-in storage, and lacks Bluetooth. But it has the same speedy processor and an even lower price tag.
I’ve been pretty impressed with the performance and build quality of Cube’s 10 inch tablet. Hopefully the company put the same sort of work into the new 7.9 inch model.
The Cube U35GT also feature a 2MP rear camera, a VGA front-facing camera, a mini HDMI port, microSD card slot, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, and stereo speakers.
The tablet is said to get up to 6 hours of battery life. Note that in the video below from ARMDevices, the Cube representative is talking about wholesale prices, not retail prices.
