Archos 80 Xenon 3G tablet pops up in Europe

European budget tablet company Archos is adding an 8 inch tablet with built-in 3G capabilities to its lineup. The Archos 80 Xenon is up for pre-order in Germany for about 226 Euros ($296 US) including VAT.  Other retails are charging as little as 170 Euros ($223 US).

The tablet has a 1.2 GHz processor and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. But the rest of the specs are kind of underwhelming.

The Archos 80 Xenon features an 8 inch, 1024 x 768 pixel TFT display, and just 4GB of built-in storage. It does have a microSD card slot for extra music, movies, or other files, but 4GB isn’t a lot of room for app storage these days.

Archos does include support for Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, FM radio, and A-GPS.

There’s a 2MP camera on the back of the tablet and a 0.3MP front-facing camera.

The tablet measures 8.4″ x 6.1″ x 0.4″.

Some of the specs may differ from region to region — or one of the stores taking pre-orders might just have the specs wrong. Either way, it’s not yet clear if the Archos 80 Xenon features 512MB of RAM or 1GB and whether it has a dual-core or quad-core processor. Or maybe both options are available, which would explain why one store is charging $223 while another lists the tablet as $296.
