VIA Technologies subsidiary WonderMedia is trying to get its dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor into more tablets. So the company’s released reference designs for 7 and 10 inch tablets.

Basically, these are “turnkey solutions,” which means that WonderMedia won’t make the tablets itself, but it’ll sell the designs to anyone interested in building tablets around them.

Both models are designed around the 1.4 GHz WM8980 dual-core processor with ARM Mali-400 dual-core graphics and up to 2GB of RAM and up to 16GB of storage.

The tablets can support up to an 8MP rear camera or 2MP front-facing camera, and can work with WiFi and 3G cellular networks.

The design includes a mini HDMI port, microSD card slot, a full-sized USB port and a micro USB port.

  1. I hear that if you go to a computer store in Shenzen, China, you can order up 1 tablet built to your specs. Shenzen is where many Chinese tablets are made.
